Academic is one of the country’s top thinkers

A CRANFIELD University academic has been named by HR Magazine as one of 2012’s most influential thinkers.

Andrew Kakabadse, Professor of international management development at Cranfield University’s School of Management, is a new entry on the list at joint 14th in HR Magazine’s ‘Most Influential 2012 Top 25 UK Thinkers’.

Every year HR magazine compiles the HR Most Influential ranking, considered to be the definitive list of UK directors and thinkers who have the greatest influence in the field of people strategy.

Some are recurrent favourites, some are controversial, and many reflect the business environments in which they operate. But all are ranked by their peers: leading HR directors and management academics.

For 2012 emerging themes included ‘change, leadership, bravery, ability to inspire, a ‘can-do’ attitude and role modelling’.

Andrew was recognised by HR Magazine in particular for his “massive influence on board attitudes to people”, and as an “influential global speaker on HR issues”.

He has previously been awarded a £2million research grant to examine leadership in governments and the private sector, and is currently working on examinations of top executive performance, consultancy excellence, leadership, corporate governance, conflict resolution and international relations.

Andrew said: “I am extremely pleased to have been recognised by my peers and included in HR Magazine’s influential thinkers’ list. This further draws attention to the important issues surrounding people management and leadership in business, something which is of vital concern in the current global economic climate.”
