Church celebrates 800 years

MILTON Keynes is barely 40 years old, but a church in Woolstone recently celebrated its 800th birthday!

The Holy Trinity Church in Woolstone has seen many a change in the last 800 years, not least the building of a new city on its doorstep.

Residents packed the church to hear talks from the Rev James Whysall and historian George Lovell about the way the church has changed from the Anglo-Saxon wooden structure to the newer building people use today.

The church congregation even holds services in the newly refurbished Cross Keys pub twice a month, a reminder of the days when the church itself brewed beer.
