It’s chilli in need as staff vote puts heat on bosses

From the look of trepidation on their faces, these three senior members of staff at a Milton Keynes company didn’t savour chomping on the hottest, chilli-laden curries of their lives.

But at least Ben Semper, Anita Wanless and Ian Pickford avoided an argy bhaji at Mazars by going ahead with the challenge, which raised a whopping £1,346 for Children in Need.

Employees paid £1 to vote for the senior manager they would most like to see clamping their jaws around the steaming serving of Indian-inspired heat treatment.

Ben, a senior tax manager at the office in Midsummer Boulevard, had thought he’d got off scot-free until a surge of votes from his fired up team on November 16 saw him blazing to the top of the ballot.

He was joined at the hot top table by colleagues, Anita Wanless, senior audit manager, who took second place, closely followed by Ian Pickford, partner and head of Mazars Financial Planning in Milton Keynes.

The challenge took place the next day after the three brave eaters drank milk to line their stomachs. Each one of them lived up to the challenge and finished every morsel.
