The finalists and judges in the Red Hot Masterchef 2011 competition

THE winner of the first ever Red Hot World Buffet Master Chef competition has been revealed.

Jack Fitzgerald scooped the top prize in the 2011 contest, which is backed by Milton Keynes Citizen.

The final judging took place at the Theatre District restaurant last Friday.

More than 100 entrants had been whittled down to just four: Jourdain Hughes with raspberry and vanilla cheesecake; Jack Fitzgerald with Sticky Lemon Chicken, Ellie Taylor with Chinese Ginger and Garlic Pork and Jordan Green with Spicy Sausage and cream pasta.

The contest started at 9.45am. before Judges, including Red Hot’s head chef Arvinder Banga, food expert Steven Dryden Hall and the Citizen’s deputy editor Craig Lewis, called time at 11.30am and sampled each dish.

Jack’s Sticky Lemon Chicken won the day and will now feature on the menu of all Red Hot establishments.

Arvinder said: “The chicken and potatoes were cooked to perfection and the flavour of the lemon and honey was perfect. This is a dish I can see being very popular with our customers.”

Jack also received a trophy and £100. The three other finalists’ dishes will be available at Red Hot Milton Keynes for a month.
