KUEHNE + Nagel employees at Linford Wood have raised a massive £2.015 for Macmillan Cancer Support’s 100+ Club.

The cash has been raised as part of a new corporate challenge for Buckinghamshire companies. The challenge encourages companies to pledge to raise £1,000 to help celebrate Macmillan’s centenary year.

The fundraising was driven by charity champions Dawn Ash-Kashani and Emma O’Connell who encouraged suppliers and clients as well as employees to join forces.

IT Office Manager Dawn said: “Initially we felt that the £1,000 target would be hard to achieve but once the momentum started it just snowballed.

“We managed to reap over sixty prizes from clients and suppliers which went into a grand raffle which we drew when we held our Macmillan’s World Biggest Coffee Morning on September 30.

“While the star prize quickly became a 32” Samsung Television generously donated by a London based supplier, I would personally like to thank all of our sponsors for the generous, wonderful and extraordinary prizes donated, together with gifts kindly donated by staff and other Kuehne + Nagel Sites.

“Our vending supplier kindly loaned a luxury coffee machine; 60 plus muffins and pastries and a member of staff for the day to make and sell delicious coffee to our staff.

“We combined this with a dress down day; cake sales and competitions. Emma O’Connell even took holiday to bake cakes at home.

“We were also given masses of Lindt Chocolate by another supplier. This allowed us to make up six bumper Lindt chocolate hamper boxes for raffle prizes, leaving us enough stock which we sold to staff, to raise a further £593.

“Once we had reached the £1,000 mark we kept going, at one point we were just £37 off of £1,500 but our Senior Vice President, Contract Logistics rose to the challenge and personally made up the shortfall.”

Sandra Dibling, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Buckinghamshire, added: “Kuehne + Nagel are real ambassadors for Macmillan’s 100+ Club.

“Without supporters like them Macmillan wouldn’t be able to sustain the level of support and assistance to people affected by cancer in Buckinghamshire. Benefits for companies joining the 100+ Club include improving internal communication, motivating employees, promoting creativity and simply enabling people to have a lot of fun while supporting a good cause. All these factors can aid staff retention and have a positive impact on the company’s bottom line.”
