Table tennis star launches ‘healthy’ curry

TABLE tennis champion Andrew Baggaley has joined forces with Silk Road restaurant to launch what is believed to be the UK’s healthiest curry.

The ‘Dahi Methi Murgh’ dish will have less than a third of the fat content of the average Indian dish with just 350 calories.

Andrew said: “It is a tasty dish and even better that it isn’t packed with calorific ingredients, I will definitely be coming back to enjoy the dish again between training”.

Creator of the dish and head chef Saj Khan, said “This is the perfect dish to still enjoy the food that you love, that is not only easy on the waist line but is supporting a great cause. An average Masala curry can contain around 850 calories and 35 grams of fat, Dahi Methi Murgh will contain around only 350 calories and 10 grams of fat. This dish shows that tasty food doesn’t always have to be unhealthy.”

Saj has created the low cholesterol dish by substituting the high fat content ingredients usually used in Indian cooking, such as Gee and cream, for healthy but tasty alternatives like yoghurt. The dish will be created using no cooking oils which are used in cooking many dishes.

As well as supporting your waist line, the restaurant will be donating £1 from every Dahi Methi Dish that is ordered to the British Heart Foundation to help with the charity’s Heart Month.
