Initial swab tests taken on the dozens of Wuhan evacuees staying at Kents hill Park hotel have proved negative, health officials have announced today.

The tests were taken as soon as the 105 British citizens arrived at the hotel on Sunday.

They had been flown from the Coronavirus epicentre of Wuhan in China and must stay at the hotel in isolation for 14 days.

"Swab tests that were undertaken on their arrival and all swab results were negative. This indicates that it is unlikely that any of the guests have coronavirus," said an NHS spokesman this morning.

He added: "All guests will need to have further swab tests after six and 12 days of their stay at the facility to confirm that they remain negative for coronavirus."

Each of the guests have been given their individual test results and further information about how they can move around the hotel.

NHS and Public Health staff have met with them all to discuss their results and to address any questions or concerns they may have, said the spokesman.
