Hi All. I write this column on the back of a fantastic result in
Peterborough, in the first leg of the Knockout Cup Final where we came away with a 3-2 win and an important one goal lead to take into the second leg to be played tonight (Thursday) at the Thunderdome, writes bench coach Phil Wooderson.
Peterborough is always a tough place to go and dig out a result and we showed all the character and skill required.

We played a really disciplined game and all the guys stuck to their jobs.

Even when we were hit by a couple of quick goals to tie the game in the third period we went back at the Phantoms with a real show of the character that I knew we had but may have been missing in the last few weeks.

When the momentum turns in a rink like Peterborough and Romford it is a real task to turn it back in your favour, but we did just that and landed a late blow with a well taken goal by Adam Carr created by a hard working Nick Poole.

I'm positive that if we play as we did on Tuesday we can come away with the silverware and give our fans a great Thursday night.

All the guys are fired up for both the cup final and the imminent play off campaign (Kurt Irvine's even started his traditional beard growing early!)

Unfortunately I wasn't at the weekend's games, but I know that the guys put in a good show against Slough Jets on Saturday narrowly missing out in penalty shots.

It was important for us to put a good performance in against Slough as they are in our Play Off group. On Sunday we travelled to Guildford, and we rested a few guys with knocks and illnesses with six games in nine days.

We drafted in Paul Gore, Keiron Goody and Allen Sutton from Milton Keynes Thunder, and I was informed that they all put in fantastic showings.

Suttsy is going to replace the injured David Wride for the remainder of the season and hopefully help us push for both the Knockout Cup and the Play Off Championship titles. We wish Wridey a speedy recovery.

I really hope that you can all get to the rink tonight to help create a hostile atmosphere for Phantoms and to act as our extra man to push us to our first but hopefully not last piece of silverware this year.
