No mercy show as Lucas bags eight goals
Telford Spartans were shown no mercy by a rampaging Milton Keynes Hurricanes who destroyed them to the tune of 20 goals to 6 at Planet Ice on Saturday.

Much of the damage was done by hotshot Mike Lucas who notched eight of the goals and got assists on another six.

Telford had no idea how to close down the home forwards as Hurricanes led 5-1 at the first break.

After the interval the hosts slackened off a little, scoring six times but allowing Telford to find the net three times.

In the final period Telford collapsed, conceding nine goals while registering just twice.

Other scorers for Milton Keynes were Alex Parris 4+3, Liam Cusack 2+5, Phil Jacobson 5+3 and Dan Stedman 1+0.

The following day in Hampshire Hurricanes faced much tougher opposition against Basingstoke Cougars but put up a great performance, taking a first period lead with a goal from Lee Leach.

In the second session the Cougars put Milton Keynes under pressure and eventually levelled the score.

The final period was end to end hockey with Kim Taylor in the Hurricanes net giving a great performances to deny Basingstoke.

Hurricanes could have won but for squandered chances by Jacobson, Parris and Lucas.

With the scores level at 60 minutes the game went into five minutes of overtime, a period which produced no further goals so the points were shared.
