Milton Keynes Storm bagged a 5-3 victory in their last game of the season as they beat Chelmsford.

It marked David Carson's last league game in a Storm shirt. He is joining fellow team mate Ben Russell in Canada at an ice hockey academy next season.

Carson who finished as top points scorer was among the scorers at Chelmsford, netting the second goal.

Storm took the lead on the Riverside Centre's rutted ice after 4m 51s with a neat goal by Nathan Carmichael.

Chelmsford equalised with a well-worked goal which seemed to up the pace of the game a couple of gears and the encounter became more physical. Ross Tippet was a victim of the change in pace when his check was deemed to be worthy of a 2+10 penalty.

Storm weathered the penalty and after returning to full strength got their second goal through Carson at 17m 47s. Once again though Chelmsford quickly levelled.

In the second period Storm stepped up the pressure and this paid off when Tom Mboya finished off a pass from Carson at 27m 53s. Yet again Storm could not hang onto the lead and conceded a goal while caught on the break trying to kill a penalty.

With just under eight minutes to go it was 3-3 and Storm wound up the pressure with near misses for Carmichael, Carson and Dylan Pasqua. Their efforts were finally rewarded with 3m41s to go when they got the fourth goal through Ross Tippet.

Mboya sealed the game with less than a minute to go, taking a through pass from Carson and scoring a quality goal.

The previous day the Under 14s saw off Guildford with a 3-1 win. Carmichael sent Carson away to break the deadlock at 9m58s and his wicked slapshot found the top left hand corner of the net.

Storm thought they had goen further ahead in the 14th minute when they had a 'goal' washed out.

With the score still 1-0 at the start of the second session it took until 25m48 for Mboya to nudge in a short range effort to give Storm breathing space.

Storm were looking well in control at this stage and picked up a third goal at 33m35s when a long range shot by Robert Pullar was tipped in by Tippet.

Guildford managed a consolation goal at 33m 58s but after that Storm effectively the game up as they kept alive hopes of a top two finish in the league.
