Have your say

It’s week two of Music in the Garden this weekend, when Dame Cleo Laine invites us to enjoy stunning live music in an equally stunning location – her back garden!

This celebratory year – the 15th annual event of type – is once again bursting with an assortment of music, and events all with the quality factor confirmed.

On Saturday, visitors will be treated to Elaine Delmar, a singer fondly regarded for her sublime delivery of material taken from The Great American Songbook.

“Quite simply, Elaine is one of the greatest female jazz vocalists to have come from these shores,” say those behind Saturday’s event, “An incredibly sumptuous performance of world class music is guaranteed.”

Michael Parkinson is a fan: “One of the ageless, evergreen singing stars that we have … as beautiful and talented as ever… she’s marvellous!” he says.

Elaine will be joined by her quartet for Saturday’s performance, which is yours to enjoy from11.30am.

Tickets are on sale at £12.

If one set of sophisticate d music making isn’t enough to fill you up this weekend, make your return on Sunday afernoon – from 2.30pm – and enjoy Kieran Goss.

He is one of Ireland’s leading songwriters and performers, but then plenty of you reading this know, and appreciate his talents already.

How else can we explain those sell-out Stables dates?

“He’s not just a great songwriter. He’s a witty and charming performer,” says our Wavendon mole.

And Time Out Magazine are equally enchanted: ‘One man, one guitar and a voice sent express mail from heaven.’

Split with £15 and you can add your own comment.

And, so long as the music is playing, the sum shining and the Pimms pouring, you might as well give in to temptation and enjoy a tasty cream tea into the bargain .
