With only weeks left to go until the big day, Stony Stratford needs to find a new Town Crier for the big Christmas lights switch-on event.
Tomorrow night all speakers – male and female – are invited to compete for the role at York House Centre, from 8pm.
The informal session will require a voice and/or instrument and entrants and voters can enjoy a delicious curry dinner for just a fiver too.
The search for a new crier follows the sad passing of the man last in the role, Malcolm Jones.
“Malcolm was a gentle giant with a smiley face,” said Cathy Woodward, one of those behind tomorrow’s competition.
“We are looking for a fun loving person who loves people , loves helping people find out what’s going on, and doesn’t mind dressing up, and ringing a bell!”

Monies raised at tomorrow’s Curry, Chords & Criers event will be handed to York House Centre.
We understand that the Juke of Stony will be rustling up the curry in question and that it’ll be ‘mildish but with an orifice-opening side pickle for those who enjoy that sort of thing...’
Blimey! A vegetarianoption will be available.
Ding, and indeed dong.
