Girlyman and a vampire parade

IF you’ve hopped your way along the television channels in recent weeks, you can’t fail to have noticed Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show which has been making a big noise on the cool BBC3 station.

And this evening you can get up close and personal with Nelson when creator Simon Brodkin hits the Stables in the guise of the geezer...innit?

Brace yourselves for ‘proper mad’ fun as Nelson shows his decidedly mischievous side.

Friday night belongs to an 80s hit-maker who is still sounding good in the noughties, because Howard Jones can still deliver.

The man who crafted pop gems including New Song, What Is Love and No One Is To Blame will be live after 8pm.

While Howard shows off his skills as a songwriter and pianist, over on the other side of the venue, Edwina Hayes will show her capabilities.

She has supported too many artists to name check in the here and now, but we will tell you to keep your ears open for her forthcoming third album, Good Things Happen Over Coffee.

And sometimes, better things happen over a whisky, but that’s besides the point...

Vampires Rock bring rock (as you might expect) and comedy, and stir it up for a fists in the air feast – £25 gets you involved on Saturday night.

Sir John Dankworth instigated the Jazz Matters sessions for fans of the genre to enjoy and discuss it, and once a month listen live.

This week The Dave Lee Quartet bring the passion between 11.30am and 1.45pm.

Tickets are a mere £8 if purchased in advance.

A late addition to the programme – and a sterling one at that, is Beth Nielsen Chapman who will enjoy a two night stay this Sunday and Monday.

She has a new CD Back To Love to promote, boasting an exhuberant return to the style that distinguished some of her best work and biggest hits.

It is all quiet on the Wavendon front on Tuesday, but Wednesday presents Girlyman.

The winners of the Best USA singer-songwriter’s award at the Independent Music Awards will be showing the talents that won them the gong after 8pm.

“Theirs is a sound you could happily drown in,” reckons Maverick Magazine.

That’s a big statement.

Ticket bookings and further information on all shows is available by putting a call in on the usual number,
MK 280800.
