Let’s go outdoors

The Big Outdoor Show is taking over at Willen Lake this Bank Holiday weekend, with a feast of fun for campers, families and outdoor enthusiasts.

Organisers have booked in a ‘biggie’ for you too – the world’s greatest living explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes (below) will speak at the event, along with other aces Felicity Aston and Mark Woods.

Adventurers Alex Jackson and John Sullivan will be on hand to share memories from some of their intrepid experiences.

The National Action Sports Tour team are showing up, with daredevil bike and scooter displays, and magnificent water rescues will be handled by Newfoundland dogs – ace swimmers with terrific capabilities; it’ll be a highlight, for sure.

The Big Outdoor Show isn’t one of those ‘look but don’t touch’ events though.

On the contrary.

“We’re not only staging displays in adventure sports including sailing and mountain biking but we’re also encouraging people to get involved,” said organiser Pauline
Gibson, from Freesports Events.

“They can either be inspired to try new pursuits, or learn more about skills such as survival training and polar expeditions in our exciting, accompanying seminar programme.”

The Main Display Area will also feature daily chances to get up close and personal with the creatures from The Exotic Animal Encounter, meercats included!

Remember to be gentle, folks!

Your three days of action in the very physical literal sense begins on Saturday and rolls through to Monday.

Not all contributers will appear all days.
