People in Milton Keynes are being urged to make sure they get stuck in to enjoy next year’s bumper celebration of the 50th birthday of Milton Keynes.

On January 23 2017 Milton Keynes will be 50 years old, and throughout the year celebratinos are being hosted locally and sharing with the world that Milton Keynes is an amazing place to live, work and visit.

Milton Keynes Council is co-ordinating the 50th anniversary, with the support of key partners, to provide a programme of events throughout 2017 which includes: exhibitions, walks and trails, interactive public art, parties, festivals and international collaborations.

MK50 will provide an inclusive programme of events and activities at all scales, enabling people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to be part of the celebrations.

Throughout a year-long programme of activities, we will celebrate Milton Keynes and its pioneers, creating shared memories and profile its architecture, design, green spaces, culture and people.

The full programme will be announced later in the summer, but three bumper events are already in the diary:

Birthday Weekend(20 – 23 January 2017)

A chance to celebrate the actual Birthday of Milton Keynes with an event or activity in your community, organisation or venue. We are asking venues across Milton Keynes to open their doors for free, hold an open day and put on some celebratory events for local people.

We are taking everyone back to the 60s and encouraging the whole city to party like its 50 years ago. Whether you want to hold a street party, a party in the park or rent out your community centre, we want to hear about your event.
