IF you want to see what lurks underneath our perfectly placed strip of pink in the picture on the far right, you need to buy a raffle ticket!
Healthcare Charity: MK, the registered charity for MK Hospital, invited Stony Stratford to turn pink in support of their Touch of Pink Appeal for during October.
Rising to the challenge in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Susi Whittaker, owner and artist in residence at Stony Stratford’s Stani Gallery rustled up two glorious paintings, Live for the Moment, and In The Pink With Ewe.
Both pieces are being raffled for the Touch of Pink Appeal, which is raising funds for a digital x-ray machine that will benefit local breast cancer patients.
“There is never a plan,” Suzi said when asked about the process behind the visions of pink.
“But it often happens that the title comes first.
“And I don’t usually paint people, so I did a few sketches first to see where she was going...
“Who is she based on?
“I can’t reveal my sources!” Susi laughs.
“She is so funny, you either love her or hate her – and my mother hates her, although I’ve had several customers in the store who want to buy her outright...”
But the only way to be in with a chance of hanging the ample-bosomed lady, or the Ewe-thful sheep on your wall, is by entering the aforementioned raffle.
Tickets are just a quid a pop, and only available from the store, on Stony High Street.
The paintings are boldly displayed in the window, and at the time of writing sales of tickets for both pictures are pretty neck and neck.
“It’s that sort of charity that everyone should do something for,” Susi sums up, “Every husband, woman, son, brother...everyone.”
Quids at the ready then, and over to Stony you go.
Let’s all do a little bit and help to make a lot of whole lot of difference.
Every ticket you buy helps to bring that x-ray machine closer to fruition which is a wholly worthwhile thing.
>The last date to purchase tickets is October 31, and the draw will be pulled on November 1.
