Prom-ising night

Fish those flags out, and brush up on the lyrics to Land of Hope and Glory – the Proms are back this week!

Tomorrow evening, Campbell Park will be a sea of red, white and blue at the annual MK Proms in the Park event.

MKCO founder Hilary Davan Wetton will be in control of the baton at this event, which will bring the spectacular music you expect – including The Dambusters March and the Can Can.

A couple of superb soloists are also putting their voices into the mix.

Baritone James Cleverton is well known for his roles in operatic productions and in concert at gala concerts.

The Royal Albert Hall has been conquered by the man and his voice, and now it’s your turn to get an earful of his awesome abilities.

James will perform Largo al factotum from the Barber of Seville and, from Carmen, the Toreador song.

Having delighted the MK audience in 2013, Emily Haig is back for the second year running to sing Vissi d’arte from Tosca, and You’ll Never Walk Alone, from Carousel.

Emily and James will then duet on material from Don Giovanni before leading you in the chorus of Rule Britannia.

A terrific firework display will put an illuminating seal on the show.

Come rain or shine, the music will be fine, so let’s be having you!

Tickets are £12 for adults, £8 for children, or take the family (two adults/two kids) for £32.

Gates open at 7pm, the show begins an hour later.
