Rembrandt portrait on display for the first time

A NEWLY authenticated Rembrandt masterpiece has been revealed for the first time at Woburn Abbey.

Until recently the original oil painting entitled ‘Portrait of an Old Man’ had hung in a private room at the home of the 15th Duke and Duchess of Bedford, but after experts inspected the portrait, they confirmed it was an original by the Dutch artist.

Woburn Abbey general manager Jonathan Irby said: “We are very excited about bringing this exquisite painting into the public eye, especially since visitors will be able to get within a few inches of it.”
