StonyWords 10 is hosting a LitQuiz Night on Thursday evening, upstairs at The Crown in Market Square.
Try your literal knowledge – it’s a quid per person. Turn up in a team, or join with others upon arrival.
The questions start at 8pm.
> The famed From Bard to Verse session returns at The Bull on Friday, with everyone invited to join the open mic poetry event at 8pm.
> Or, how about stepping to York House for S.S.Shanty!2 and a night of naughty-cal shanties and maritime songs with Five Men Not Called Matt leading the call.
The Steppers Band and Roddy Clenaghan will also play.
Tickets are £5 and monies raised will go to the RNLI.
We’re not trying to twist your arm, but in 2013 it was a sell-out. If you want in, don’t leave it to chance. Buy tickets now from Timor Court in Stony Stratford.
> On Sunday at The Cock Hotel, a Scala Film Night will host 2012 political thriller The Reluctant Fundamentalist at 7pm, while The Last Secret of the Shelleys: a talk by Lynn Shepherd is being held on Monday at Stony Stratford Library from 7.30pm.
> On Tuesday, Limericks & Similaricks, a ‘luminous noseful of humorous verse’ will be housed in York House’s Beechey Room.
‘Rhymesters! Versifiers! Doggerelites! Get your Pobbleheads on and create some Limerick-style pieces for a jolly evening celebrating this genre,’ call organisers.
While the limerick format isn’t entirely essential, it does need to be five lines long with an AAbbA rhyme-scheme.
Nothing too saucy either – this is a family event!
To pre-book your performance time, email firstname.lastname@example.org or try you luck on the night, at 8pm.
Proceeds raised will be ploughed back into the centre. Entry is free.
