TWELVE city schools will be among 125 throughout the south east taking part in a celebration of Shakespeare this week.

The nationwide Shakespeare Schools Festival (SSF) has been taking place throughout October and November, with schools in MK taking part over the next three days.

The event, in its thirteenth year, aims to aid the cultural education of the next generation.

SSF chief executive, Penelope Middelboe, said: “There is something very exciting about entrusting the work of one of our most monumental playwrights to the next generation.

“It is only by allowing young people to discover for themselves how art helps make sense of their world that the UK will be able to retain its leading position as a nation with a rich cultural heritage and strong contribution to the arts.”

Performances will take place at the Stantonbury Campus Theatre at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 (£6 concessions). People can buy tickets by calling the box office on 01908 324422.
