BRAIN Tumour Research has organised a walk along the Grand Union Canal for Saturday, to help boost funds.
It’s a win-win: You give your weekend some purpose and swell the coffers for the incredibly worthwhile charity, while also making the most of the Autumnal air – beats being a couch potato!
You can start from or finish at the Three Locks Pub in Soulbury or the Black Horse in Great Linford, which is close to an 11 mile walk.
Want to take part, but don’t fancy the long stretch?
A more gentle stroll will lead out from the Peartree Bridge Inn or The Plough at Simpson, making, so you could do as little as four miles should you prefer...and have a pub lunch to boot!
The charity, which has its headquarters close by in Padbury, needs every penny it can get: Brain tumours kill more children and people under the age of 40 than any other cancer, but research into the disease is tragically underfunded.
The walk is part of a new campaign, Conquer it Together, which aims to raise £1 million to launch a new Centre of Hope.
“Everyone who enters will receive a certificate for hte money they raise, as well as a Conquer it Together ‘ medal is they raise over £100.” said BTR director Sue Farrington Smith.
“I will be taking part with my family and dogs and it would be lovely to see as many people as possible enjoying a beautiful walk while raising funds for a good cause.”
So, come on: Stop debating and get to it: You can register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling Sarah on 01296 733011.
Registration is a fiver. If we all do a little, it could make the world of difference.
