Whip-crack away!

Calamity Jane rides into MK Theatre on Tuesday.

She can outrun and outshoot any man in Deadwood.

Hard, boastful and desperate to impress, CJ travels to Chicago to recruit a star for the Deadwood Stage.

She returns with Adelaide Adams.

But things don’t go as planned for Calamity.

The townsfolk favour the new girl and Jane struggles to keep her jealousy and pride in check.

Her long-standing enemy Wild Bill Hickok is given the task of making her see sense – and to realise her secret love...

Originally a big screen hit in the 1950s starring Doris Day and Howard Keel, the Western musical was based loosely on stories from the life of Martha Jane Cannary, aka Calamity Jane.

This particular stage delivery will star Tom Lister (who soap fans will know as Carl King in Emmerdale) in the role of Wild Bill.

Jodie Prenger – winner of the BBCs I’d Do Anything series – will star in the title role.

She received rave reviews as Nancy in the West End production of Oliver, and she’ll collecting more of the same during this run, which is booked through to next August.

That’s quite a stint, and there’s quite a score too; Oscar-nominated, it includes The Black Hills of Dakota, The Deadwood Stage and Just Blew in from the Windy City and Secret Love.

Calamity Jane will be with us until Saturday, November 29.

Tickets start at £10 and rise to £29.50.
