Off field development put on hold for time being
Stony Stratford Town Football Club brought the curtain down on their South Midlands League Division One season with a 1-1 draw against rivals New Bradwell St Peter.
And while the club went through a difficult season on the pitch, eventually finishing in 13th place, there were aslo a few changes going on off the field of play.
Because of the continuing financial downturn, the club has been forced to withdraw its plans to build a new stand at their Ostler's Lane ground. And following that news the club parted ways with chairman Michael Donovan.
Since then Chris Wise has been appointed as chairman on a temporary basis.
The control of the club is with the committee, and with the efforts of secretary Steve Sartain and first team boss Jimmy Stoyles, hopes are still high that the club can look forward to a positive future.
Plans are now moving on building a set of changing rooms near the main pitch which would then put Stony in line with the FA's ground grading requirements to be eligible for promotion to the SML Premier Division.
And Stony's focus is not only on the senior sides, but with its ever-growing youth set-up. Boss Stoyles put his faith in the club's youngsters and was rewarded with them securing a mid-table finish in the league - and most games saw Stoyles field a side with an average age of just 19.
The women's game is now progressing too with Stony's ladies making great strides as they clinched fourth place in their league.
This season also saw Mike Judd win the BBC Look East unsung hero award and the Sport Milton Keynes Sports Achiever award for services to sport.
The 68-year-old has spent over 25 years working as a volunteer with the club, from being groundsman to serving drinks behind the bar and running youth sides.
And as the club's hopes for a better season next term, it urges local people to come down to Ostler's Lane and support their local side while they enjoy some entertaining a mature football played in a family atmosphere.
