Newton full of praise for Dons squad
MK Dons assistant manger Eddie Newton feels a few more new signings and the Dons could be genuine title contenders in League One.

The Dons were scintillating against a much fancied Huddersfield as they swept them aside 3-1 at The Galpharm on Saturday.

And Roberto Di Matteo's assistant said although he was full of praise for his side after the win, he added they were still targeting new players to so they can really 'challenge' in League One.

He said: "We've got a very good squad and we hope we can add a couple more before the end of the transfer window.

"Roberto has been working extremely hard to get players in – we have been trying to make sure the players we bring in are better than those we've got already.

"If we can add another couple of players I feel we can have a squad to really challenge in this league."

Again there was a wall of silence when asked about skipper Keith Andrews' future, but Newton was keen to stress it is not having an affect on the squad.

"The confidence is growing more and more," he said. "They are starting to believe in their own individual abilities."

Another plus was the debut of French midfielder Flavien Belson who was superb.
