First half strikes from Aaron Wilbraham and Mark Wright got Dons back to winning ways at stadium:mk.
The Dons were on top throughout the game and in the end won at a canter over strugglers Grimsby.
It couldn't have started any better for the Dons, Aaron Wilbraham scoring before 30 seconds was even on the clock. Leon Knight crossed in a well-flighted ball for his strike partner who headed past Phil Barnes in the Grimsby goal.
After such a great start the game didn't carry at that same fast pace.
With credit going to the visitors who battled hard to get back into the game.
It was the Dons who had the next chance on 23 minutes though, captain Sean O'Hanlon getting on the end of dean Lewington's free kick, but his effort was just tipped wide by Phil Barnes.
The game carried on in the same vein, looking more like a pre-season friendly but then Dons turned things up a notch just before half time.
Mark Wright doubling the lead on 41 minutes after a neat passing move found the winger on the left hand side of the box, his right foot curling shot gave the keeper no chance.
They were then awarded a penalty on the strike of half time after Jemal Johnson's shot hit Shaleum Logan on the arm.
But Colin Cameron hit the resulting penalty against the post.
Grimsby looked more up for a fight in the second half and kept the Dons camped in their own half for the first 10 minutes without really creating much.
They couldn't continue in the same vain though as neither side took the game by the scruff of the neck.
Mark Wright should have sealed the points on 67 minutes when he got on the end of Johnson's inviting cross, but he somehow turned it wide.
It didn't matter though as Grimsby failed to make any impact on Dons'
goal.
