Mark Lancaster, MP for North East Milton Keynes
'relieved' to learn expenses are in order

MP for North East Milton Keynes Mark Lancaster has been given the all-clear in the Westminster expenses furore.

He said: "I am delighted after scrutiny by the national press, the local press and now Sir Thomas Legg, that it has been decided that my expenses are all in order.

"It is a relief after all this time."

He has had a letter from Sir Thomas – who has been sifting through MPs' claims – confirming he has no further queries after Mr Lancaster forwarded a copy of the lease for the flat he rents in London and documentation for the Olney property for which he previous claimed mortgage interest.

MP for Milton Keynes South West Dr Phyllis Starkey was told by Sir Thomas earlier this month that no action was required by her on allowances.

n MPs will be banned from claiming the cost of mortgage interest payments on second homes, under new proposals.

A review of MPs' parliamentary expenses is also expected to propose MPs only be allowed to rent second homes in future with a further recommendation that they will not be able to employ family members.
