Lancaster in no-nonsense exchange with PM
North East Milton Keynes MP Mark Lancaster has asked the Prime Minister if he thinks he is up to the job.
He told the Commons that Parliament stood accused of being increasingly distant from the people.
Then turning to Mr Brown he added: "Away from the political arena, what does the Prime Minister feel he has ever achieved in the real world that qualifies him to lead the nation?"
Mr Brown replied that every MP should have a "bit of humility" after listening to their constituents recently.
"Every MP has learned from their constituents that they want us to clean up their politics and get them through the recession, and they want us to build for the future.
"That is what I am going to do, and I believe I have the experience to do that."
