£20m m-way link to re-open soon
THE finishing touches are now being made to the roadworks around M1's Junction 14.

The £20m project to ease congestion was due to be finished by the end of August.

But motorists are still experiencing tailbacks, with traffic lights near the junction not yet working.

Milton Keynes Council is confident work will soon be complete and a spokesman said the new traffic signals around J14 are covered in readiness and waiting for final testing and commissioning on October 27.

There are other delays at Pineham and Fox Milne roundabouts where traffic cones still in place are protecting the bus lane.

Minor cosmetic works such as sign erection, lighting and fencing will take another few weeks to finish.

The council spokesman told the Citizen traffic is now flowing well between J14 and Northfield in both directions.

It put the delay down to excessively heavy rain in August, preventing operations including top soiling, concrete laying and surfacing, all of which require reasonably dry weather.

The spokesman added: "Although there are still some minor works in progress, we have achieved the objectives of reducing congestion around M1 Junction 14."
