NHS says stay cool in heatwave
Health chiefs advise the city to play it cool as temperatures rise in a heatwave expected to hit 31 degrees tomorrow.
NHS Milton Keynes urges people to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen and a hat and take plenty of cold drinks.
Sprinkling water over clothes and skin and keeping a cold damp cloth around the neck is another tip.
Health officials say the elderly, babies and those with chronic illnesses or behavioural problems are particularly at risk.
Deputy Director of Public Health for Milton Keynes Dr Diane Gray says: "Be alert and call a doctor or social services if someone is unwell or further help is needed."
The hot weather is expected to continue through the week putting health services on Level Two alert if temperatures go to 31 degrees on two consecutive days and 16 degrees on the intervening night.
