A Kronik case of success for the Dutty man

LAST year we spilled the beans about an infuriatingly catchy tune that was taking the the scene by storm.

Now the creator of 911, Hype Kronik is back – with Dutty Weekend, and it’s fair to say that things are going through the roof.

BBC DJs Ace and Vis have given the track their backing and now the airplay campaign is really stepping up with national radio stations including Kiss and Capital set to jump on board.

Needless to say, right now label interest is at a premium too.

Fellow new city talent F-Tizzle has produced the track, and has his own explanation for the song making such a big impact: “It’s the anthem for the weekend. Whether or not you’ve planned it, at some point everyone has had a ‘dutty weekend’, so people can easily relate to it...” he told GO!

“I think the fact that Hype is so true to his name is his biggest selling point.

“He is contagiously excitable and always out to create a massive buzz – no matter what he turns his hand to.

“He also has a great choice of subject matter which relates to such a wide audience instead of a niche market.”

And everywhere this fella goes, Milton Keynes goes too, in a manner of speaking.

“I make music for two reasons – to make people have a good time and to put Milton Keynes on the map,” Hype says, generously.

“Everywhere I go I big up MK and wear my MK Dons top so people know we have talent here.

“I really hope people support F-T and I on this project by telling everyone to check out the song and request it on the radio...

“I am really excited about the way this is happening so organically...”
