TREAD The Boards Theatre Group are on stage this week, doing a turn with Alan Ayckbourn’s Improbable Fiction
Six aspiring authors, all members of the Pendon Writers Circle, want literary success.
But progress is slower than reading through twelve volumes of Nuts and Bolts weekly...
In an attempt to review their efforts, group chairman Arnold (who himself writes instruction manuals) calls a meeting and suggests that to break the rut, they should combine their resources and hope for better results from a collaborative piece.
But the idea falls flat, and with no progress made, time is called on the meeting.
Then a clap of thunder takes people by surprise, the lights go out and weird things start happening, as the story that might have been begins to revolve around the increasingly bewildered Arnold!
It’s a witty play, and an equally witty performance is assured when Tread The Boards do just that tomorrow and Saturday evening.
Watch Improbable Fiction at The Chrysalis Theatre, Japonica Lane, Willen at 7.30pm nightly.
Tickets are on sale priced at £8.50 for adults, £6.50 for concessions.

> Of course it’s traditional to tell stage-steppers to ‘break a leg’ before taking to the stage, but seeing as tomorrow is Friday the 13, we thought better of it, on this occasion....
