A glorious noise from the wonderful Watson

The beautiful grounds of Woburn Abbey, known for hosting artists including Neil Diamond and Van Morrison will this Saturday night belong to Russell Watson.

The award-winning singer has teamed up for a fundraising show in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, under the banner That Beautiful Noise.

Speaking exclusively to GO! about the date, Russell said: "I try to get as much bang for my buck out of working for specific charities and I get lots and lots of charity requests.

"I specifically thought it would be nice to put my time and effort into the Muscular Dystrophy one.

"It is a really worthwhile cause."

Russell has fought a very public battle with brain tumours, but is now fully fit and itching to perform for you.

"I feel like I have come through a tough time and a dark tunnel, but I have come to the end.

"For the first 12 to 18 months I felt very much like a victim. Now I feel like a survivor," he explained.

"I am ready to move on and get on with my life again."

True to his word, Russell is already working on his new album: "We want to give it a real Italian flavour. There is going to be a lot of Italian stuff on there, "...a lot of romantic stuff, a lot of film scores and a couple of Neopolitan Arias too."

Pack picnics and search out the blankets and stools to make your visit a totally relaxed one and then head to the Duke of Bedford's residence when gates open at 5pm.

The show itself will get underway from 7.30pm when Russell will be joined by the Orchestra d'Amici with William Hayward conducting.

Russell will also duet with Camilla Kerslake, who famously became the first artist signed to Gary Barlow's record label. She released her debut opus at the tail end of last year and is currently starring in the West End.

And how will Russell wrap things up on a hopefully balmy summer's evening?

With the Proms of course!
