Akeley Wood school looks to the next 70 years in Milton Keynes

As Akeley Wood School in Buckinghamshire celebrates 70 years in education, the independent school reveals its stunning newly refurbished Reception classes and Nursery at Wicken Park, on the edge of Milton Keynes.

This significant investment has created a contemporary new look and feel for its youngest pupils.

The Nursery and Reception classes have been designed with a modern ‘softer’ feel, incorporating natural tones and calming colours. The rich, motivational environment allows children to make smooth transitions from one activity to another much as they would at home. The high quality continuous provision, furnished with Community Play work stations and resources, enables children to become independent and curious learners.

“The refurbishment coincides with our 70th Anniversary which we celebrate this academic year,” said Mrs Clare Page, head of the junior school and nursery. “Throughout the coming months, we are holding several coffee mornings and open days for parents to visit and see the changes we have made, and we are also able to book private visits to suit parents’ needs.”

Located on 31 acres of stunning landscaped grounds over three separate school sites Akeley Wood has become one of the most prestigious schools for excellence in education and built a reputation for achieving the highest standards.

Today, Akeley Wood educates more than 850 students between one and 18 years, and is home to a ‘family’ school ethos where a traditional heart and contemporary vision can happily coalesce.

It is being led by the instruction and vision of the whole school head, Jenny Clough.

“This is a wonderful moment in the school’s history that we will celebrate with colleagues, students and parents alike,” she said.

“The refurbishment to the early years’ educational and play facilities are another important chapter for Akeley and gives us even more reason to celebrate our ongoing commitment to supporting children to become collaborative, lifelong learners.”

Unknown to some, Akeley Wood has three separate locations within a radius of four miles of each other:

The Nursery is located at the stunning Wicken Park site offering outstanding care and facilities for children aged 12 months to four years. Equally, Akeley Wood Junior, resides within Wicken Park and prides itself on its hub of learning and discovery.

Tile House Mansion - Akeley Wood Senior School (11 years - 13 years)

Tile House is set within the tranquil yet stimulating setting of the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside and is home for the first years of senior education.

Akeley Wood House - Akeley Wood Senior & Sixth Form (13 years - 18 years)

Within a mile of Tile House, Akeley Wood House is the third historic location for the latter years of senior school and sixth form.
