Anglian Water has apologised for failing to fix a leaking water main on a busy Milton Keynes road which was first reported around a month ago.
Residents of Kents Hill have become increasingly frustrated by the leak on the H8 Standing Way and Anglian Water now insists the problem will be fixed next Tuesday, October 8.
One frustrated resident said: “It’s ridiculous. The water companies always go on about people saving water, but they go and leave a serious leak like this for a month. We’ve reported it several times.”
In a statement to the Citizen, Anglian Water said: “We are very sorry for the time it’s taken to repair a leak on a 12-inch water main on the H8 Standing Way.
“The location on this busy road means it is a complex job to arrange. It requires special equipment and a lane to be closed so that the work can be completed safely.
“However, clearly this is not to our usual high standard and we are very sorry for that.
“The repair is due to be carried out next Tuesday. One lane will be closed during the work but engineers will be avoiding peak traffic to minimise disruption and the road should be back to normal later that day.
“We would like to thank customers who have brought this to our attention and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the repair.
“We will be investigating what has happened here to ensure lessons are learned for the future.”
