Art groups canvassing for your creative votes

THE last Wednesday of the month is the time when members of the MK Society of Artists gather for their regular meeting, and welcome a special guest to the fold.

This time, formally trained artist Beryl Maile will hold court.

Beryl’s paintings include canvasses for offices in London and New York, relief panels for a hotel in Saudi Arabia, murals, Inn signs and book illustrations.

It has been several years since she last visited the MKSA, but long-term members still recall her entertaining way – which together with her unkempt talent explains why she is being brought back by special request.

Beryl has exhibited extensively, with The Royal Society of British Artists, The National Society, Women’s International Art Society and The Royal Water Colour Society among a long list.

If you would like to hear Beryl babble (and we mean that in the nicest sense), make tracks to the Westcroft Centre in time for 7.30pm.

> While on the subject of the MKSA, next Thursday (Feb 28), workshop tutor Alan Chown will be hosting a watercolour workshop over at Little Brickhill Village Hall.

“Alan is a superbly skilful water-colourist producing realistic and detailed pictures,” said chairman Caron Higgins.

The six-hour session will begin at 10am, and costs £25 for non-members, £20 for those in the club.

If you would like to book a place for that, visit www.MKSA.org.uk

AT MK Gallery, the video space programme is still showing a selection of works by UK artists David Raymond Conroy, Benedict Drew, Matthew Ferguson, Joanne Masding, Hannah Perry and Matthew Noel-Tod.

While It Lasts continues to the end of the month.

THE Project Space Exhibition is currently hosting a show of film and sculpture by the artist Aaron Head, titled simply And.

The assembly of films and found material features playful interruptions and interventions into various narratives.

It remains at MK G until March 3.
