ARTISTS across the county are throwing open their doors to the public for Bucks Open Studios 2012.
Bucks Open Studios 2012 takes place this year from June 9 to June 24 and is the largest visual arts event in the county and one of the largest in the country.
This year we have more participants, more new entrants and more venues than ever before.
For two weeks in June every year over 500 artists and makers, in over 190 different venues across Buckinghamshire will be opening their studios, demonstrating their craft and running exhibitions and events for the public to visit.
2012 promises to be another bumper year involving 549 artists and makers. Organisers are expecting to exceed last year’s record of just over 12,000 visits made to studios and exhibitions during the fortnight.
They are particularly pleased to welcome 70 new artists and makers this year. Participants include painters, glass workers, wood turners, basket weavers, metal workers, jewellery makers, book makers, print makers, acrylic and silk painters to name just a few of the many skills to be found in Bucks.
To celebrate the 2011 event there is now a video demonstrating just what Bucks Open Studios is all about. You get a real feel for the diversity, talent and innovation that is buzzing in Bucks and it’s a great bird’s eye view of last year’s event.
It’s a great chance to be inspired, go behind the scenes, talk to artists’ first-hand, and see work in progress. Some venues also offer demonstrations or workshops. Others feature group exhibitions, showcasing a wide range of arts and crafts.
