Do you know someone who gives up time to make sure kits are washed, clubhouses are clean and matches are held on time?

It’s time to nominate those volunteers at the annual Bucks and MK Sports Awards.

The awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution by those who make sport happen across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, from coaches and young leaders to active workplaces and schools.

There are nine different awards up for grabs, and organisers are calling for nominations before the deadline expires.

Winners in some categories feed into the Regional BBC Sports Awards, and any qualifying unsung hero nominations could win in the same category at the National BBC Sports Personality of the Year in December.

Rob Arnold, of Stony Stratford Cricket Club, won the Volunteer of the Year category in 2013.

Rob, who first got involved in helping at the club because his son played, said: “I felt it was a great honour just to be nominated and then to win the award just blew my mind, but it’s really an award for the club and everyone who helps run the club with me.”

Active Workplace of the Year 2013 was also picked up locally, with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Milton Keynes scooping the award with their commitment to an active workforce.
