The branch manager of Buildbase in MK is bringing some vintage glamour to the Lord Mayor of London’s Show Parade by driving a truck that’s nearly 100 years old.

Gordon Walker will be part of the parade with the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants when he will get behind the wheel of an old Model T Ford one-ton truck.

The truck has a 2.8-litre engine with a top speed of about 40mph and is forming part of the guild’s ‘Supplying Britain’s Building Needs’ theme.

Mr Walker said: “We are very honoured to be part of this famous historic event and wherever we take the truck there is plenty of interest because it’s one of the earlier models and in great condition considering its age.

“In July the vehicle took part in a specialist Model T Ford rally in Yorkshire. Despite being nearly 100 years old the lorry toured a 200-mile route around the Yorkshire Dales.”

The parade, held on November 9, stretches for three miles between Mansion House and the Royal Courts of Justice.
