FIVE giant wind turbines could be built on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, towering over Little Linford.

Initial scoping plans have been submitted to Milton Keynes Council for the installation of the huge electrical generators between Haversham and Little Linford in the north of the city.

Due to their size, it is expected that the turbines would be seen from a distance of 10.5km, or 6.5 miles, in all directions, making them visible to most of Milton Keynes.

The scoping request was lodged at the council by Entec UK Ltd earlier this month.

David Webber lives in one of the houses closest to the proposed site.

While not necessarily against the idea of the wind turbines, he said he was frustrated that people in the area have not yet been told officially of Entec’s plans.

He said: “The only reason I found out was because somebody came out to conduct a background noise check and someone asked ‘what for?’

“My biggest frustration is that there has been no consultation with people, and no information forthcoming.

“I have had to go digging for this information my self.

“They are proposing five turbines that will tower over Haversham and Little Linford.

“I am most surprised, and angry, that we have had to approach the council with this, rather than being told ourselves.

“I’m not against the idea of wind turbines on the whole, but there needs to be an agreement with everyone in the area, and that has not taken place yet.”

The council confirmed that initial scoping request has been submitted, but that there have been no official plans placed, and that they would have to go through full planning procedure, including public consultation, before being given the go-ahead.
