Boy, 16, assaulted with belt for his iPhone 5C

A 16-year-old boy was assaulted with a belt and threatened during a robbery on a city redway.

At 5.10pm on Tuesday the victim was walking near Cropton Rise towards Emerson Valley with his friends when he noticed two men also walking on the redway.

The two men started following the victim and his friends, and asked for the time. They later asked for directions and became involved in a verbal altercation.

The offenders then demanded the victim’s phone, assaulted him with a belt and threatened him.

He victim handed over his iPhone 5C and both offenders turned and ran towards Westcroft.

One of the offenders is white, medium to slim build, between 16 and 17 years old, with short light coloured hair and a fringe.

He was wearing a grey sweatshirt with black letters across the chest and light-coloured jogging bottoms and dark trainers.

The second offender is white, 5ft 8in, slim build, aged between 16 and 17 years old. He was wearing a blue jacket with stripes down each sleeve and baggy denim jeans.
