Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has been shortlisted in three categories of a prestigious national award ceremony.

The CIR (Continuity Insurance and Risk) Business Continuity Awards recognise the country’s top business continuity, security, resilience and risk professionals.

The categories are: Business Continuity/Resilience Initiative of the Year, Business Continuity/Resilience Team of the Year and Public Sector/Not-for-Profit Continuity Manager of the Year – Ian Taylor, Business Continuity & Emergency Planning Officer, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.

Denis O’Driscoll, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Head of Service Development, said: “Advance planning and preparation are at the very core of what we do.

“Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service has robust business continuity plans in place because it has to cope with the rigours of the 21st century and of course comply with various laws.

“We have to be able to continue to provide vital emergency services in the event of any situation that could lead to disruption, emergency or crisis.

“Being shortlisted in three categories is a great achievement for us and an honour in itself.”

The awards are judged by an independent panel of experts, and the winners will be announced in London on May 29.
