Citizens:mk, an alliance of MK’s faith and education organisations, has launched a campaign to build trust across different MK communities.
Following a pilot event hosted by the Granby mosque on Saturday, involving 18 guests from different community organisations, Citizens:mk is calling on people to back the Weaving Trust campaign.
Shabir Sabur, president of the Ganby mosque, said: “When our mosque was attacked by a fire bomb two years ago, we were overwhelmed by the support of MK individuals and institutions.
“We want all communities to feel as supported as we do and this Weaving Trust event was a beginning of building a bridge between various communities.”
Bob Collard, of Christ the Cornerstone church, added: “It was a wonderful bridge- building opportunity and quite enlightening.”
Citizens:mk now plans to repeat the event monthly at faith and civic institutions across MK.
