CITY house building companies have given a £1,000 thank you to the Little Lives Appeal after staff saved the life of an employee’s baby.

Taylor Wimpey worker Vanessa Dockerill gave birth to daughter Chloe eight weeks prematurely in March last year.

Said Vanessa: “The work the neonatal unit does is absolutely amazing.

“It’s a small unit that serves a rapidly expanding area, so the extension to be paid for by the Little Lives Appeal is crucial,” she added.

A charity golf day organised by the National House Building Council raised £500 for the appeal and Taylor Wimpey agreed to double the amount.

Nick Cunningham regional director of NHBC Central said: The refurbishment of the neonatal unit is well advanced but needs every last penny to complete essential work to help support these tiny babies in their first weeks of life.”

Less than £70,000 is now needed for the Little Lives appeal to reach its £250,000 target.
