A SADDLERY company is the best in the equestrian business – and that’s official.
RB Equestrian Saddlery, in Great Brickhill, near Milton Keynes, won the national final of the 2011 British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) Business Awards.
The company collected the Retailer of the Year Award, medium size category, during the BETA Gala Dinner at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.
RB Equestrian was founded in 1989 and is run by Rosslyn and Ted Boggis together with their daughter Kathryn Jaquet and employs a staff of 10. The shop specialises in professional saddle fitting, riding equipment and animal feeds as well as an ecommerce catalogue.
“We’re delighted to have reached the finals of such a prestigious award, particularly as we were nominated by our customers,” said Kathryn. “In the best traditions of a specialist retailer, we always endeavour to offer a personal yet professional service – and it’s satisfying to know that our efforts have been rewarded.”
As part of the final judging, RB Equestrian’s trade suppliers were asked to add their votes to those of customers. BETA also used incognito mystery shoppers and a series of telephone calls to the short-listed candidates.
BETA chief executive Claire Williams said: “There were more than 6,000 nominations for the BETA/SEIB Retailer of the Year Award, so many congratulations go to RB Equestrian for winning for the second time in three years.”
More than 450 tack shops and feed merchants across the UK are entitled to display the BETA logo, indicating their retail membership of the trade association and that they are properly run businesses offering reliable advice.
BETA also runs courses to train retailers.
