An ‘oarsome’ charity opportunity!

SUMMER is on its way. How do we know? This year’s Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival has been launched.
The annual festival, where teams from businesses, organisations and clubs stick their oars into Willen Lake will take place on June 24 to raise funds for Willen Hospice.
This year is, appropriately enough, the year of the dragon in the Chinese calendar and the launch was timed to recognise that.
All the teams will be seeking to knock the crew from Ian Smith Construction and Pell Frischmann off their pedestal as reigning champions on the 200m course, while also aiming to beat last year’s charity fundraising total of more than £20,000.
This year, companies signing up to gold and silver sponsorship will automatically be entered in the race.
Paul Hinson, Willen Hospice’s chief executive, said: “This annual event is a fantastic, fun group activity which will bring together the community of Milton Keynes to help raise much needed and vital funds for Willen Hospice”.
