THE first annual Social Enterprise Business Exhibition in Milton Keynes will be held on November 17.
More than 30 exhibitors are planned for the event at The Buszy (the old bus station) in Elder Gate from 1pm to 6pm.
The social enterprise sector is growing in the new city and includes businesses involved in training, venues, catering, marketing and corporate away days.
Profits from such enterprises are re-invested for social purposes. The companies are providing services to both the public and private sectors.
l The new city’s social enterprises are due to be given government backing today (October 27) with the visit of minister for civil society Nick Hurd.
He’s in Milton Keynes to launch he Big Society Capital in the south east. Big Society Capital is the new name of the Big Society Bank which will be investing £400million that has been left in dormant accounts and £200million from the UK’s largest high street banks into socially useful projects.
