Good neighbours rally round to help stranded MK Chamber members

Members of a Milton Keynes business group that ceased trading earlier this week have been thrown a lifeline by good neighbours.

The Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce collapsed yesterday under the weight of debts leaving members unable to access vital services.

Now Chamber groups in neignbouring areas have stepped in to help with things like export documentation.

A statement from the Northamptonshire Chamber read: “Now that the Milton Keynes & North Bucks Chamber is no longer trading, we don’t want its members to feel unsupported and out on their own. We still want them to feel that they have that backing and support and access to the services that are vital to allowing their business to function, particularly when it comes to making sure that their shipping/exporting processes continue to run smoothly. We understand that any delays in the obtaining of essential, export documentation can have a massive knock on effect and we would like to minimise any disruption where possible.”

Chamber groups are part of a national business network which encompasses 50-plus Chambers and more than 100,000 businesses, which between them employ over 5 million people across the UK.

Two other bordering BCC accredited Chambers – Bedfordshire Chamber and Thames Valley Chamber – are also stepping forward to offer support.

The Northamptonshire Chamber statement continued: “We have already had several export enquiries from members of Milton Keynes & North Bucks Chamber and are working with them to help where we can. We are also looking at contingency plans to see if we can help with other elements of the Chamber membership. to Milton Keynes & North Bucks Chamber members.”
