One in 12 households expect to spend more than £1,000 on heating bills this summer.
Eight per cent of Milton Keynes residents anticipate spending at least £1,000 on heating between June and August according to a nationwide survey, whilst 74 per cent say that they spend more on heating bills than going out.
And the future outlook is not much better, as 88 per cent of residents think that heating bills will continue to rise next year, while 11 per cent say that their partner insists on running their heating throughout the summer.
Peter Tillotson, managing director of Buckinghamshire-based heating firm QHS, said: “It is clear from the research that heating bills continue to be a big concern for Bucks homeowners this summer. It has never been more important than now to think about how we can make savings around the home, especially in relation to our gas bills.
“If homeowners insist on running their heating in the summer, then it’s worth ensuring that their boiler is running efficiently so they are not wasting money.”
