Andrew Pakes, Labours Parliamentary Candidate for Milton Keynes South, paid a visit to new start up leisure company Formula Fast Indoor Karting in Bletchley last week to see how the new business was getting on in the city.

A would-be city MP put his campaigning pedal to the metal with a fact-finding visit to an indoor karting business.

Labour’s Milton Keynes South hopeful Andrew Pakes visited start up leisure firm Formula Fast Indoor Karting in Bletchley to see how the new company was getting on.

Formula Fast relocated to the city from Banbury last year and Andrew visited with Councillor Rob Middleton, Labour’s economic spokesperson, to find out more about the challenges facing a new small business in the city. It’s part of a series of visits to small firms across the city by Labour representatives to showcase the best of business in Milton Keynes.

Formula Fast is the brainchild of young entrepreneurs Phil Stanley and Ollie Fox. The indoor go-karting specialists have already established a following in the borough, verified most recently by their impressive ranking as the #1 attraction in Milton Keynes on a popular review site.

Phil Stanley, Formula Fas’s managing director, said: “It was great to find we have the full backing of our local politicians and councillors in this start-up phase of the business.

“As a new leisure facility for MK we are working very hard to provide a quality, ‘all-year-round’ motorsport experience to the public. The local economy is benefitting from job creation, and a boost to Milton Keynes’ reputation as a leisure destination.

“Andrew and Rob have some great plans for helping small businesses like us succeed in what can be a very challenging environment for a young business, and we look forward to driving the business to continued success with their help.”

And the pair didn’t stay on the sidelines for long and accepted an offer from Phil and Ollie to get on the track to test the go-karts for themselves.

“If Andrew and Rob ever find political life lacking in excitement, I think they could both have a promising motorsport career open to them – with a little coaching from us!” said Phil afterwards.

Andrew Pakes, added: “We have some amazing start-up firms and small businesses across Milton Keynes. It is always great to hear about the innovation of local entrepreneurs at first hand and to find out more about the challenges facing new businesses in the city. Formula Fast are a brilliant example of the kind of leisure firms we want to attract and grow in the city providing a first-class experience and bringing more visitors into the borough.”
