Students will be learning how to start up their own businesses at Milton Keynes College courses this year.
The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy (PJEA) at the Chaffron Way college is in its second year of operation following a recent swanky graduation ceremony for the first cohort of students.
Nine modules of training include the innovative entrepreneur, business planning and pitching and launching your business vision.
The college teamed up with the television tycoon last September. Over the past 12 months students have all set up their own companies ranging from a floristry and an IT Service consultancy to a retail clothing firm.
Work experience in businesses including global watches, clothes and accessories giant Fossil and regional Frosts Garden Centre have also provided students with an insight into working in a professional environment.
Following the graduation, a number of the students will be continuing to expand and grow their businesses in media, photography and IT support sectors.
The students’ graduation ceremony was held at the spectacular Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden.
Successful graduate Matthew Pickering said: “Studying for the Peter Jones Academy Level 3 Diploma has taught me how to run my business successfully. My knowledge base and business acumen has been developed and fine-tuned through the hands-on work experience I have received as a result of all the projects and challenges I’ve had to lead on, my work-experience at the global electronics company, Bosch, and from the expert tutors who have taught me this year. The graduation ceremony was very impressive and having Peter Jones present my certificate was a great way to round-off the experience.”
Peter Jones said: “The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy graduation is always such a highlight for me and it is fantastic to celebrate the next generation of entrepreneurs as they embark on the next chapter of their lives – these are the ones to watch, the young people who will be changing the world!”
Milton Keynes College operates the only Peter Jones Enterprise Academy in the area.
